Thesis of Computer Science students was harder than I thought. It’s a long and challenging road to the end of it all. All the while I thought it wouldn’t be so hard, as if its just one of our exercises in the laboratories. Seems like it’s the other way around.
Thesis Title Proposal: Autonomous Ground Vehicle for Advanced Military and Civilian Use using GPS Navigation
We’ve just passed our title proposal last two weeks. Before the defense, I was pretty nervous despite me having quite some background about it. Luckily, my dad is helping me with it. We have contacts to people who have the instruments and devices needed. So, we have not much of a problem when it comes to devices needed. I was also interested with the proposal because it involves trying to move the robot autonomously without any supervision of humans. Pretty cool isn’t it.
Anyways, back to the day of our Title Proposal. Our instructor/adviser wasn’t around to help us out during the process of the defense. It kind of let us down, knowing we will be doing it on our own. And we even thought we won’t be able to defend. But, fortunately, we were allowed to defend our thesis proposal, and it was more than I expected. We had panelists who I know are tough and I thought I will be having a really hard time explaining. But then, it went smoothly, and I was able to satisfy their questions as well. Although they thought it was too complicated for us to accomplish. I told them that me and my thesis groupmates can make it, but, still, they insisted it was impossible. So, they decided we focus on the algorithm, and just demonstrate that we are able to move the vehicle using a laptop.
So far, we haven’t started documenting yet. I’m pretty excited already, although nervous that I might not be able to finish it. But, I still believe I can. All I need is to exert more effort to make it successful. =D
Anyway, will be posting any further updates on our thesis progress. Probably even pictures of our progress. Hope all goes well!
Shoutout to thesis takers like me, especially my classmates: Go Go Go!! We can do it! XD
Finally. I’ve turned 21. The age when you, supposedly, are entitled to 100% of you freedom (although I don’t I’m getting mine a 100%.. Haha). But, despite the fact the fact that I am not anywhere getting younger, I still enjoyed the whole third week of July.
Since May, I’ve already planned to have a party for me and my friends. So I got an online job, and saved up for my birthday celebration (July 25). Thankfully, everyone I’ve invited came, and the party turned out to be really, really fun! So anyways, here are a coupe things I won’t ever forget during, not only the 3rd week, but for the whole month of July.
My Mr. Evil Grin gift.
This was given by a very very good friend of mine. He chose it because it kinda reminds me of him.
Getting 5+ birthday greeting and wishes from the same person.
Yeah. I got the birthday greeting for 5 or more times, but the funny and best part of it, I never got tired of hearing it. =D
Greetings from all my friends and family.
Of course, who wouldn’t feel good about it? Even if you do not have to remind or tell them that it’s your birthday, they still remembered and never failed to greet. XD Sweet.
Enough earnings for my party.
I worked hard for this party! So I’m really happy that I got enough money to spend for the things we needed for my celebration.
Laugh Trip with my friends.
I never get tired of laughing. It’s really fun to laugh along with your friends as you eat and sing along to the karaoke. Reminisce about certain events, laugh about something really shallow. Sure is something to treasure and remember.
Seeing my old friends/classmates.
It was really cool to see my classmates/friends again who aren’t continuing their studies anymore. We were able to catch up with a lot of things, laugh and share stories, despite the little time we spent together. They managed to find time to come over to my party and sure made me happy.
Food!
Everyone’s favorite part! I definitely loved the food during the party. I made sushi and my mom had other dishes cooked. Good thing, everyone loved the food served (who wouldn’t anyway?).
The people I invited mostly came.
Not unlike last year (which was a total bummer!), the friends I wanted around were actually around! Haha. Which made me have a really good time and no regrets inviting them. In fact, I want to spend more time with them. Even if those who had work, they skipped their OJT’s and obligations as a student assistant just to come over.
There sure are a lot more reasons for me to remember my 21st birthday. These are just a few of my most memorable of them all.
Here are a few pictures taken during my special day. Feel free to browse through them, and see how much fun we had.
So, to everyone who made my birthday an unforgettable one, thanks so much!
To all those who are celebrating their birthday, Happy Birthday to you all. Remember to find a way to make your birthday special. Your day comes only once a year, so make the most out of it. You won’t regret it, I assure you.
Geeky as it sounds, but yes, I am a certified Computer Science (much commonly known as CompSci) stude. Some find it surprising that I do program a couple of stuffs, and, boasting aside, excel in my major subjects.
A couple of things we do in CompSci are the following:
Programming. Yes, we spend maybe 75%-85% in front of the computer doing programs ranging from exercises to major projects. Although sometimes we kind of take a break once in a while, which tend to take up most of the time than programming alone. Haha. We have more talks than work. Well, what can they do, we’d leave the room in a crazy state of mind if we don’t rest our brains! Haha.
Seminars/Conference. In our college, we are required to participate in seminars related to IT or technology. During this event, we have students who compete and participate in some quizbees and competitions. Also, raffle draws are being held during breaks, and at the end of the seminars, which in my opinion is my favorite part of the seminars. =D I bet the other studes will agree with me. =p
Thesis. I know, I know, every college department requires a Thesis Research in order to graduate. But then, since we are CompSci studes, we are required to research and develop a software of something that is innovative. Which is really brain-twisting and nerve-racking! But I know I will survive! Haha
These are actually the major activities of a CompSci stude. If you are into Computer Science as much as I do, then you will find the course fun, despite some difficulties along the way. But I could say I enjoy it A LOT! I can never ask for a better course. =D
Here are a few pictures taken during my stay in school and with my fellow CompSci studes and friends. Will be adding more in the future.
I guess most people already know about YouTube (I know you do… or NOT! =P). Basically, it’s a site where you share vids with people all over the net. YouTube actually have different account types, depending on what your purpose is in making an account. There is a basic account which is, if I’m not mistaken, YouTuber(for those who just have YouTube for browsing, saving faves, sharing random stuff, etc.), Comedians, Director, Guru, etc. And here, you can subscribe to an account that interests you, something that you’d probably want to have updates on. I have my own set of favorite accounts I am subscribed to. Do you? =D
Anyway, enough about the YouTube intro. I came across this one user who is really funny and making really good videos on his channel. So, for those who don’t know (high five to those who know), I’m talking about KevJumba. I subscribed to his channel about one week ago. And the first time I saw his videos, I have already been laughing and enjoying his posted vids.
Well, KevJumba isn’t all about the fame and popularity. Basically, from his everyday life, experiences and all, he can make people laugh. What I love from the videos is how I “relate” to them. Like, for example, when you play practical jokes on your floormates, or even on your dad, babbling about random stuff. Everything is just taken without scripts and takes, just casual videos. With his handy camera with him all the time, there is nothing he would miss, may it be funny or not. And with KevJumba, there never is a dull moment.
KevJumba also has another channel, which is the JumbaFund. His quirkiness and humor is still present in this channel, still the same personality he has on KevJumba. And since he is a YouTube partner, as he says, “Every view counts toward charity.” Meaning, that just by watching, viewers are already donating for the charity he is raising funds for. Now, how cool is that??!! He’s not just a comedian, he is doing everything for a good cause. While others are YouTube partners to profit from it, KevJumba uses the money earned to help other people.
That’s just about it. Take a peek into KevJumba’s videos. Who knows, you might love him the first time you see his videos, just like me. Hehe. And, you can even help in your own little way by just watching and having a great time.. Cheers!
As we all know, Father’s Day is just a few days away. And probably, some of you would be freaking out on what you can do for your dad on Father’s Day. Well, don’t worry, here are a few ideas to make your dad feel special.
Get him something he likes. Is your dad talking about a particular DVD movie, or maybe a t-shirt he spotted at the malls? Or any kind of small thing he keeps talking about, which he obviously likes? Why don’t you get it for him yourself, and surprise him on his day? Now is the time to put your savings into good use. Maybe there is something you are saving for, but, you can get it yourself another time. After all, Father’s Day only comes once a year.
Go outdoors. There are a lot of things you can do, besides going to the mall and just strolling. Why don’t you go and have a picnic with the whole family? Play some outdoor games, or challenge your dad to a game of basketball or badminton. The choices are endless. Then, you can maybe grill food for lunch and have a picnic. It’s a really fun way to celebrate Father’s Day.
Picture Perfect. If you are into scrapbooking, why not put your dad’s photos into good use? Instead of them lying around and being neglected, compile them into a scrapbook, so it is more presentable. Decorate it, put in captions, tell the story of each picture, show how special your dad is. Whoever sees the scrapbook then will be amused by just looking at the pictures. I’m sure he’ll be happy if you did do it.
Chef for a day. For a change, why not cook for your dad on father’s day. Have him relax while you take care of the cooking. You may even spice it up by blindfolding him, and taking him to the dinner filled with dishes you prepared yourself. Not only does it give you fulfilment, it will also make your dad really happy and proud of you for taking time to prepare something special for him.
Massage, massage, massage. You don’t have to take your dad to massage shops for him to relax. Why not give him a message yourself? Massage his tired hands, feet, back, neck, temples, etc. Give him a hand and foot spa. Not only will he feel very relaxed, he will sure be happy you are doing it for him. And that he is not getting it from anyone else.
Car wash. If you see your dad cleaning the car, go help him out. Not only do you help him clean the car, you could also talk and catch up with a lot of things. Talk about the latest movie, or maybe a video game if your dad is a gamer, too. It will definitely be a cool bonding time.
Hug. And if all else fails, or you don’t get the chance to do any of the above, give your dad a really big, long, warm hug. A hug is a very simple gesture that can mean a lot to your dad. Let your dad feel he is loved and very special to you, that he means everything to you. If you haven’t been giving him any hugs lately and you do it really really seldom, now is the time.
Hope I gave you all an idea on how to make your dad feel special (or not! haha). But then, these are just a few ideas you could do for your dad. Just remember that no matter how big or small, it’s the thought that completely matters. Every effort you do to make your dad feel loved will be highly appreciated by him. Even if we don’t be as nice as he expects us to be (uhm.. guilty! hehe), he would still appreciate every single thing you do for him. No matter if it’s Father’s Day or not, still, make your dad feel special. I’m telling you, you won’t regret it.
